The Law Office of Marilynn W. Landon, a Dallas, Texas Family Law Firm, provides knowledgeable information and experienced representation to men and women throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth area in child support and other divorce related matters.
Everyone is obligated to support their children. The amount of money designated for child-support is calculated according to the Texas Child Support Guidelines.
For an estimate of child support, please view our Texas Child Support Calculator. Please note that this is only an estimate and does not constitute legal advice. Consult an experienced divorce lawyer for advice and representation.
We take the time to explain the process to you and listen to your concerns. We take a personal interest in every case we accept and provide you with the benefit of more than 13 years of experience working with children.
For additional information about our Texas family law firm and some of the benefits of retaining our legal services, please visit our Why You Should Hire Us page.
We also assist clients with child support enforcement issues, including paternity suits to determine parentage in order to establish or refute child-support obligations. We also represent mothers and fathers in child support enforcement as part of our post-divorce modification and enforcement services.
Child support obligations, once ordered, remain in effect until a modification for support is ordered. Even if you are entitled to increase or lower support payments, you cannot receive the benefit of your entitlement until a petition is filed with the court and a judge orders the modification. Typically, the judge will not make his or her order retroactive past the date the request is made.
Please remember that until an order modifying child-support is granted, you can be held in contempt for failure to pay court-ordered child-support.
If you have a question about child support enforcement or paternity, please seek legal counsel from an experienced Texas family law attorney.
